Fruit Trees

Fruit trees are a great source of food and are a key part of many ornamental landscapes. Just like all other tress, fruit trees are susceptible to a large spectrum of disease and insect pressures. Insects that lay eggs in or around the fruit or feed on the fruit do the most damage. The Codling moth is especially hard on apple and pear trees. Their larvae hatch and quickly burrow into the fruit as it grows. Aphids cause the leaves to curl. Scale insects can weaken the overall tree. Fruit flies, as borers, cause serious damage to all fruit trees.

With fruit trees, making an application in late winter or early spring can control Aphids, Scale insects and Mites. This application will destroy insect eggs before they hatch. Timing is important to protect the tree and fruit.
