Paver, Cement & Patio Care

Pavers, cement, and patios are often formed of concrete made of crushed stone, sand, and gravel with high limestone and clay content. This provides an attractive spot for moss to grow.

A low power pressure washer can be used to remove the current moss and then steps can be made to control the conditions where moss thrives.  Moss can be removed from these surfaces by decreasing shade over the pavers, cement or patio. Shade breeds more moss. It’s also important to remove plant matter and debris from the surfaces to allow for more sun exposure and reduced water retention. Moss can also be removed with a stiff brush or flat shovel.

Removing moss from these surfaces is a good idea as it prevent them from getting slippery and posing a hazard.
